First, let us just start by saying that we’re not making fun of anyone in particular here, In fact, we are all about creativity here at Hooray Heroes. But, with that being said, we’ve gotta talk about something.

One of the best features of our personalized children’s books is you can personalize almost everything, including the dedication. We think of it as a wonderful way for people to put their feelings for their little ones into their own words. However, sometimes things go, well, a little astray.

After reading through hundreds of beautifully written, well-crafted dedications, we’ve chosen a few that caught our attention. Here are a few we thought we’d share with you in case you were looking for some “inspiration” for a dedication.

SOME TRICKS TO WRITE THE BEST DEDICATION

After having a bit of fun, let's dive into the main topic: how to write your dedication, that will appear on the first page of your personalized books for Mom, Dad, kids or couples.

1- Think about what to write

First of all, you need to think carefully about what you want to say. The dedication is both long and short, with 11 lines and a limited number of characters. So you need to be efficient and to go to the point, yet tender and gentle. Take care with the first line (the intro) and the last (the conclusion). Then remember to air out your text, so that it's pleasant and easy to read.

2- Let your heart speak for you

It's the ABCs! It may seem simplistic at first glance, but all too often we act and react with our brains and not enough with our hearts. The cerebral approach places you in control, calculation and rationalism, while the heart places you in a more spontaneous and pure impulse. What do you risk by getting someone to talk who won't betray you? And what are you looking for from the other person? A controlled message or something sincere and natural?

3- Find inspiration in classics...

"When writing the dedications that our company offers for its personalized books for couples, I already try to imagine what I'd say to the one I love. When it comes to form, alexandrines are the easiest to use, as they allow for a variety of rhythms with caesura or line break. As for style, I draw on Moleskine notebooks that I've been filling since 2006 with quotes, beautiful words, verses or sermons that have touched me. I already have seven of them, and the eighth is in progress!"
