QUICK BIRTHDAY SNACK RECIPES TO MAKE WITH KIDS

A little girl dressed as a chef holding a custom book about the jobs she may have one day.

Having a kids’ birthday party at home can be daunting. There’s so much to do between the cleaning and the shopping that there’s hardly any time left for food prep. Fortunately, there are plenty of recipes out there for quick but intensely satisfying snacks that will not disappoint. Minimum effort, maximum reward. What could be better?

🐷Pigs in a Blanket🐷

Delicious and crunchy, who doesn’t love these classic morsels of savory goodness? Leave them plain or fill them with ketchup, mustard, or even cheese for an extra special twist and serve with any dipping sauce. We guarantee they’ll disappear!

🥪Mini Sandwiches🥪

Quick, convenient and easy to eat, a good sandwich triangle or finger made with lovely soft bread may initially seem like a cop out. The reality is though, you can literally fill them with anything. Egg salad? Peanut butter and jelly? BLT? Ham and cheese? Cream cheese and cucumber? There’s no wrong answer. We’ve yet to meet a kid who’ll turn down a good sandwich.

🥦Veggies and Dip🥕

This one is a bit of a blast from the past, but still a solid and delicious way to introduce a healthy option to any party. Cut any seasonal veggies into sticks or bite-sized pieces and serve cool with the dipping sauce of your choice. Our recommendation is either humus or a cream cheese/Greek yogurt-based dip seasoned with salt, pepper, and the herbs of your choice, but the sky is the limit.

🍇Fruit Skewers🍓

Now this really is about as easy as it gets when it comes to snacking (and the kids can help you make them too!). For the over achievers out there, you can easily increase the fun factor of by cutting bigger pieces into shapes with a cookie cutter before skewering. Worried about a mess? Serve the skewers in plastic cups to reduce drips, spills, and runaway bits of fruit.

🍿Flavored Popcorn🍿

Mind-bendingly simple or unspeakably clever? You be the judge. However, popcorn is really a more versatile snack food than you may think. Sure you can go the usual route of salt and melted butter, but don’t think for a minute that you couldn’t substitute that with cinnamon and sugar. Or chocolate and coconut. Cheesy popcorn? Salted caramel? Sweet or savory, you can mix and match your kids’ favorite flavors to create something everyone can enjoy!

🍭Marshmallow Pops🍭

Another recipe where the kids can roll up their sleeves and help out, these marshmallow pops are all the fun of cake pops without most of the work. Put one or even two marshmallows on the end of a pop stick and dip in melted chocolate. Decorate with brightly colored sprinkles before the chocolate dries or mix and match different types of chocolate (white, milk or dark) and sprinkles to get the look you want.

🍘Rice Krispie Treats🍘

The ultimate kid pleaser, the Rice Krispie Treat has to be one of the most time and wallet-friendly desserts in the world. While the original version may seem a little dull for a kid’s party, there are plenty of ways to make them more appealing. Like covering them in chocolate. And sprinkles. And putting them on sticks. It’s just a hunch, but we think that would work. 👇
